Words from John Muir and Edward Abbey with imagery from a short backpacking trip with my son in Yosemite. "Wilderness is not only a haven for native plants and animals but it is also a refuge from society. Its a place to go to hear the wind and little else, see the stars and the galaxies, smell the pine trees, feel the cold water, touch the sky and the ground at the same time...and realize it is good to go outside" "Wilderness is not a luxury, but a necessity of the human spirit."

Wilderness // A Yosemite Backpacking Trip With My Son

June 12, 2018

In May 2018, I got to take the whole family to Yosemite for a week. In addition to shooting a wedding there, I really wanted to take my oldest son (7 years old) on a short backpacking trip and share my passion for the beauty of Yosemite. This hike was over 3,000 feet elevation gain so the littler ones couldn't come. The weather worked out perfect, although the temp dropped into the 30's, and we had such an amazing time.
